Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.....! Lili of The Valley New Baby Card

Hello!

It's Monday...  Did you have a nice weekend? I hope you did and you are all ready and full of energy for the week ahead!

My new card is for someone quite close to me who will be having a baby soon. I decided to make the card early, as I know I will be getting really busy in the next few weeks with Christmas cards and the nice challenges. I guess it's OK?

Before showing you my card, I had to share with you this nice quote I found today... so true! following the baby theme....

taken from www.prifx.com

For this card, I challenged myself to make something new to me. So after taking a look around, I went for a Criss-cross card. They take a lot longer to make, but the end result is great!

I chose to use a Lili of the Valley rubber stamp. Lili of the Valley does lovely and cute stamps for all occasions. I've got quite a few of them (a lot!) and I can't stop myself from buying more and more!

The "Cute as a Button" stamp is from Hobbycraft. I used it together with the blue faux leather string and white string as a "catch" for the front cover.

As you can see, I've covered the names in the sentiment, as they may read this blog!

The papers I've used are from Pink Petticoat Colour Collections and Jennifer Ellory Floral Papers. I have distressed slightly the edges of the papers with sandpaper and blue ink.

I stamped the image on white card stock and as usual, I coloured it with my Promarkers.

For the hat and baby-grow I used: Cornflower, Powder blue, lilac and blender pen.
For the face: Sandstone, Vanilla, Blossom and blender pen.
For the blanket and floor: Icicle and blender pen.
I've used Anita's 3-D Clear Gloss Finish to accentuate the dots in the baby-grow.  I've also used it on the punched stars and the Nellie Snellen flourish corner die-cut.

The floral border was created with a Martha Stewart edge punch.
The doily at the back of the image is a Sizzix die-cut, embossed with the tiny dots embossing folder from Cuttlebug.

The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the leaves are a die-cut from Marianne Creatables.

I made the sentiment myself (in Spanish) and embellished it with rhinestones from a local shop.

The tiny envelope on one of the sides is the Envelope, Scallop Lace from Sizzix. Once the baby is born, I'll insert a card with baby name and date of birth.
