Try it on Tuesday GDT spot!!! a very musical card!

Morning!!! Happy Tuesday!

First of all, I want to welcome my new followers! thank you so much for clicking the "follow" button! it means so much to me! Hopefully I will be able to inspire you in some way or another!

Today's post is very special, because I'm the Guest Designer for Try It on Tuesday challenge this fortnight!!! I can't tell you how happy I am to have made a card as a GDT for this amazing challenge!  Thank you so much for having me!

When I was told about the theme this week, I just had to smile! It was perfect for a card I needed to make...(not telling you for who, a bit too early...!!! ). So the theme at Try it Tuesday challenge this week is.... 

MUSIC!!!

This is the card I made:

I used two clear stamps for this card. 

The first one is the "Grunge Music" clear stamp from Lili of the Valley, which I stamped with black ink.

The second one is a beautiful floral clear stamp with lots of roses from Fleur boutique stamp collection (it was a freebie in a magazine). I coloured the roses with my Promarkers. 

The colours I used are: lilac, lavender, blossom, pink mittens, buttercup, tulip yellow, Lime Zest, Leaf green.

And of course, I put a lot of layers! 

The papers are from: Crate Paper DIY shop paper pad (the music sheet paper in the background) and a freebie from a magazine (the cream paper).

I distressed all the edges of the papers with the Tim Holtz Distresser tool and Tim Holtz Distress Ink pad in Tea Dye and Tattered Rose. I bent the corners to give it a bit of a vintage/grunge look.

I also hand-stitched the bottom layer with white thread.

I used a pink doily and a piece of lace mesh as extra layers. 

Under the roses image I put a beautiful frame die cut from Marianne Creatables.

The butterflies are punched with the Martha Stewart punch and wet embossed using the LOTV grunge music stamp, using pink embossing powder.

I used a small musical note punch to add some pink notes on top of the music sheet.

The flowers and pearls are from Wild Orchid Crafts.

I created the sentiment on my computer.

The ribbon attached is from local shop.

Tutorial for the Scribble and Scrap challenge: handmade Grunge/Vintage flower

Morning!!! Happy Monday!!! 

This is the tutorial that I have put together for the Scribble and Scrap challenge. 

I hope you like it and find it useful!!!

As you may know if you have seen any of my cards, I love embellishments, the more the merrier! And of course, my favourite embellishments are flowers! A while ago, I decided that I wanted to try to make a Grunge style card. But when the time to put some nice embellishments came, I realised that all my flowers were too pretty and “clean” looking for that card!

So looking around on the amazing world of the internet, I got inspired to make my own grunge/shabby/vintage flower. Since then, I've adapted the process to my own liking and way of working.

You will need :

I use watercolour paper as it tends to be stronger when wet.

You will need to die cut 16 single leaves for one flower. You can always put less leaves if you like flatter flowers.

(If you don't have a leaf die, you can free cut the leaves yourself)

Soak the leaves in water. I usually leave a few soaking for a few minutes at a time.

Then, roll the wet leaves. After rolling, I twist and crunch them as I want them to have a lot of creases when they dry.

                                                                              

                           

Once they dry up (after a few hours should be OK, but just make sure they are totally dry as they might break if still damp), start unrolling them, but still leaving the creases on, don't flatten them completely.

Some of the leaves will be flatter or less creased than others... don't worry, you can always crease them a bit with your hands... I also put the flatter leaves as a first layer for the flower, to make a base for the rest of the layers.

At this point, I use my distress inks to ink the creases and edges of the leaves.

Now, it's time to start building the flower.

I place a bit of double sided tape, with one side peeled, and place the first layer of leaves/petals. The thinner part of the leaf should go to the inside of the flower.

Afterwards, using glue, I'll keep on building the layers.

After placing the last layer, I will use the top side of a paint brush to push the petals all together and to shape the flower at the same time... the glue won't be dry yet, so you can slightly move the petals to get them in the right place.

Once the glue is dry, you can add a rhinestone (it should be a bit big to cover the middle of the flower).

You can also use shop-bought stamens, for a more realistic look.

As a last touch, I use the distress ink again, to give the flower a bit of colour depth. Sometimes I use a different ink colour, for a bit of contrast, like I've done in the flower at the bottom.

I really hope you have enjoyed my first ever tutorial and that it has inspired you to try to make your own flowers! You can always adapt this tutorial to your own taste and technique.

As you may already know, it is ALWAYS ANYTHING GOES!!!  easy peasy! my team mates and I have been very busy creating beautiful cards for your inspiration, so don't forget to also check them out!!!


My DT project for this week is a Love/Valentine's card....
I don't usually just make Valentine's cards, as I like to make cards that also work for anniversaries or just because...

For the card I used two digis that you can find in the Scribble and Scrap shop,
  Vintage Steampunk Key and Vintage Steampunk Key hole.
I love the vintage look on this digis....
I glued them to strong card stock and fussy cut them (including the little holes!), as I wanted to put them on foam pad, raised from the background.

I've only used two colours (excluding the white), and I tried to give it a bit of a vintage-look, with the paper distressing and inking (used Tim Holtz distress tool and Tim Holtz distress ink pad in Old Paper).

The papers I've used are from Forever Friends black and gold (the floral paper) and Crate Paper DIY shop (the music sheet).
I hand stitched in dark red/maroon colour around the background paper.

I used a piece of red cardstock cut with Sissix Scallop scallop circle die, to just pop-out behind the music sheet, sentiment and digis.
 I also used half a scallop circle die in white, which I embossed with a heart embossing folder from Tri-boss.
I created the sentiment myself (I love sentiments and quotes!!!).
The brackets framing the sentiment are new. I got them as part of an alphabet set I got from American Crafts in TK Maxx.

The red hearts are a die-cut from Sissix Bigz die.
The white ribbon is from Do Crafts.
Red rhinestones in the coner are from local shop.

A Vintage Wedding

Hi! I'm here again!  thank you so much for stopping by! 

this is becoming so addictive! If I don't get my paper and markers fix a few times a week (ok... I have to take a few nights off!!!) I go craaazzzy!!!!! although finding the time is so difficult! and now my little darling is at home, sick with temperature and a very runny nose....  (but she's still full of energy??!??), so even harder! I just wait for her to go to bed and my crafting begins!

This time I bring you a Wedding card... I think it's the first wedding card I've put up since I started the blog! I tried AGAIN! to go for a vintage-look card....this time monochrome and in nude colours. I'm not sure if I can consider this sepia colouring? please let me know in the comments below, as I'm not sure if I've chosen the right markers for sepia colouring....  I used the one's I have, I'm slowly trying to build up my Promarker collection.

I used this stamp by Lili of the Valley called "Wedding Couple". It is one of my "abandoned" rubber stamps.... I haven't used it for so long! 

The papers I've used are non-branded. I also used my "Postcard" stamp by Papermania Urban Stamps, with brown ink.

I built up the layers over kraft card. 

I used a punched hearts border and lace across the card.

The Promarkers I used are:

Raw Sienna, Sandstone, Putty Mastic, Almond, and Blender Pen.

For the blonde hair I used: buttermilk and eggnog.

The corner stamp next to the image is from Tim Holtz Stampendous collection. 

I punched two butterflies (Martha Stewart punch) in Kraft card, and then I used the Postcard stamp with Versamark embossing ink, white embossing powder (Papermania foam white) and my heating tool to create the script embossing on the butterflies.

The Sentiment is my own, created with my laptop. I used one of my new Marianne Creatables tag dies for the label/tag shape.

All the papers, doily, image, hearts and sentiment are inked with Tim Holtz Distress ink in Tea dye and distressed with the Tim Holtz distresser tool.

The flowers, pearls and lace are from Wild Orchid Crafts.

A Vintage Handbag card!

Hi y'all!

I hope you've had a nice weekend and are ready and full of energy for the week ahead!

We've just arrived from the Christmas Lights Switch On here in Inverness... it was so nice! Alaia really enjoyed it, Santa made an appearance (plus Mickey Mouse, Tigger and Minions???) and there were Christmas Carols sang by local children from different music and dance schools in the area. The best was seeing Alaia's face, all excited and full of smiles... Amazing!!!!

Today I'm bringing you two of my favourite things... card-making and handbags!!!!
It's a shaped card. As I don't have any shaped dies I made it myself, drew it and cut it with scissors.

 I tried to give it a Vintage look, using the colours brown and cream, and the beautiful stamps of the Postcard  and mannequin.

The image is a digital stamp from Digi Darla called "Girls Night Out". 

I coloured the image with my Promarkers: Vanilla, sandstone, buttermilk, raw sienna and the blender pen;

 and covered her skirt with chunky gold glitter.

The papers are from my K&Company paper pad and from the First Editions Dessert Bloom pad. 

I created the sentiment myself (the quote is from Coco Chanel), and created the tag with my new tag die from Joy Crafts.

The flowers and pearl are from Wild Orchid Crafts. I cut the leaves with my Marianne Creatables die.
The buttons and gold bow are from local shops.

It is also decorated on the inside with the same brown paper and a scallop circle die cut for the greeting.

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas*.....

(*At least when you are into card-making!)

Hello again!!!!

It's raining today.... so to cheer myself up I went on a mini shopping spree to the Craft Shop! I don't really need the "it was raining" excuse though ... I go when it's raining, sunny, snowing. windy... I doesn't really matter!

I needed to top up on my card stock as I was running out of certain colours. But of course, I couldn't just buy card stock... I had to take a look at the dies and stamps!!!! (to my husbands frustration!). So I also got the "Tim Holtz Alterations Torn Notebook Die" and some paper lace doilies...  The shop has a little table with all the sale items, loads of them all mixed up, where you really need to go through everything, moving around stuff to find something you like... and I found a lovely mini stamp with a quote on it. This will be great to stamp as a sentiment on the cards!

I can wait to use all the great stuff I got today!

And the purpose of this post... I want to show you a card! 

This time I've gone for the Vintage theme.... I've used this lovely Mo's Digital Pencil digi stamp. It's called "Santa Kai". Isn't he lovely? 

I stamped the sentiment and the "Seasons Greetings" stamp in brown, and I used the Tim Holtz Distress ink in Antique linen around the edges. 

The big stars are hand-made, and I used my Joy Crafts snowflake die to create the snowflake.

The paper I used is from the Desert Blooms collection by First Editions Paper. 

, 

I coloured the image with my promarkers. I tried to colour it in a "vintage way" (my own method, still learning!) so I added some yellows to the red clothing to give it the "faded" look. 

For the Santa suit I used: Slate, Poppy, Antique Pink and Buttermilk with the blender pen.

For the pyjama bottoms I used Sandstone and I used the blender pen to fade the colour. The same with the present and the ribbon...I decoupaged the present and added some colouring over it.
