GUEST DESIGNER FOR CRAFTING BY DESIGNS MARCH MONTH-LONG CHALLENGE

Hiya!!!!

Today I'm bringing you a card I've made as Guest Designer for the March challenge at Crafting by Designs Monthly challenge!!!! I was thrilled when I was asked to Guest Design, as I love their challenge so much!
Thank you so much for having me!
Today another almost month-long challenge starts. It is Anything goes, so hop over and join  in the fun!!!

For my card, I used an image by one of the sponsors, A Day for Daisies. This one is called "Vintage Slip" and it's one of lots of freebies that you can find in their store.

I thought that the image had a Romantic kind of feeling, so I decided to make a romantic girlie card.

The papers I've used are from K&Company, First Edition Love Letters and from a magazine freebie.
I distressed all the card stock and paper edges with the Tim Holtz Distress Tool and ink them with blue ink.

As an extra layer I've used a big piece of lace mesh.

I coloured the image with my Promarkers.

Cocoa, Burnt Sienna, Raw Sienna, Sandstone and Buttercup for the hair.

Vanilla and almond for the skin.

Blossom, Pink Carnation, Lavender and Blender pen for the dress.

Cornflower and Powder blue to the birds.

Blossom, Antique pink, powder blue, cornflower, lavender and leaf green for the flowers on the hair.

I used a floral stamp (freebie from a magazine) with brown ink to decorate the edges of the image.
The "ENCHANTING" sentiment is also a freebie from the magazine.

I handmade the big white flower. If you want to know how I made it, I put up a tutorial a few weeks ago HERE.

The rest of the flowers and the pearls are from Wild Orchid Crafts.

The big rhinestone, heart pins, lace and washi tape are from local shops.

I also used some die cuts as embellishments:

Sizzix Doily die cut behind the image
Marianne Creatables bird and bird house die cut
Marianne Creatables corner die.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges (in alphabetical order)

Artistic Inspirations #81 - Sparkles / Anything goes (big rhinestone in flower as sparkle)
Oldie but a goodie - Spring has sprung (lace, pins, papers are more than 6 month old)
Quirky Cards #5 - The Secret Garden (inspired by the birds, flowers, romanticism in the video)
Whoopsi Daisy - Lots of flowers

I really hope my GDT project for March Crafting by Designs Monthly challenge!!!
If you do, I would love it you leave a comment.. and don't forget to follow me! :)

Until next time!

My first DT post for Sentimental Sundays! #188 - Make it New (Alter Something)

Hi there!

I hope you are all having a lovely weekend!

As you may already know (there is no way you have missed it, as I have been shouting about it for weeks!), I'm one of the new Design Team ladies at Sentimental Sundays. I'm really thrilled to be part of such a great team! My team mates are all amazing! and I'm already learning so much from them!

The theme for our first challenge of the year #188 is

Make it New (Alter Something)
(plus a sentiment)

Our sponsor this week is A Day for Daisies

When I saw the challenge theme, I knew exactly what I wanted to make... I've had a few wooden boxes of "Turron" (a Spanish Christmas Sweet, similar to hard nougat, but yummier!) for a good 8 months, empty and waiting to be used!!! so I couldn't wait to create something with one of them for this challenge...

From this.....

to a Shabby Chic Jewellery / Memory Box!

It's my first ever altered item (but not my last! I loved making it!).

I used this amazing image called "Skirt of Flowers" by our sponsor A Day for Daisies. Such a pretty and romantic image...

I coloured her with my Promarkers as usual...
Sandstone and Buttermilk for her hair.
Vanilla, almond and satin for her skin, plus a bit of blossom for her cheeks.
Lavender, Blossom and Antique Pink for her dress, with Blender Pen.

The paper I used in the background is from my K&Company paper pad.
The sentiment and clock stamps are by Tim Holtz.
The swirl die is by Marianne Creatables.

I embellished with flowers and bling swirl by Wild Orchid Crafts, a paper doily and punched butterflies.
Used some white acrylic paint to give it a more shabby chic look.

I also covered the bottom part of the box with the paper and punched the bottom border with my flower Martha Stewart punch.

To protect the box, I covered it with Deco Art Americana Matte Varnish.

So, check out the new challenge at Sentimental Sundays, take a look at the great projects that my team mates have made and join us in the fun!!!!!
