I hope you are all having a great weekend!
First of all I'd like to welcome my new followers. Thank you so much! You make me so happy!
I have been a bit slow this week on the card-making front.... This flu has really run me down, I haven't had a lot of energy to sit down and concentrate on card-making... Getting back on my feet now, so hopefully I'll be properly back on the new few days!
So, what is the only thing to make me get up early on a Sunday morning?
As always, the challenge is Anything goes. so go over to the Scribble and Scrap challenge, take a look at the great cards my fellow DTs have made for your inspiration and join us!
There will be a Random drawn winner, who will get a £15 voucher to spend in the Scribble and Scrap shop.
But if the Random drawn winner has used a product from www.scribbleandscrap.co.uk the prize will be a £20 voucher instead of a £15 voucher.
Also each of the Top Three will win a £5 voucher to spend at www.scribbleandscrap.co.uk!
Also, Scribble and Scrap shop is having a sale! you are still in time to get some pretty nice bargains!
Full information can be found on the blog at http://scribbleandscrapcrafts.blogspot.co.uk/2014/02/scribble-and-scrap-sale.html
My DT project for this week is a Tea Light card! I made this card for my friend Sandra, whose Birthday is today! HAPPY BIRTHDAY SANDRA!!!
It's a card full of flowers and a lovely Spring feeling!!! tired of the cold winter already!!!
I took the idea from a tutorial I saw a while ago, here. I have adapted the tutorial to my own measurements and I also added flaps to close the tea light box.
The image I've used is called "Rosie" by Art by Miran. It was a freebie a few weeks ago, it can be purchased now for only £0.92 here.
The papers and sentiment are all from the Scribble and Scrap shop.
The papers are from the "Grungy Florals -Naturals" digi set. This set contains a total of 66 different papers! 6x6 patterned papers (11 different patterns, 6 pastel colourways) and 6 6x6 plain papers to use as a matting layer. Bargain!
The sentiment is from the Basic Birthday Sentiment Digi Set, also from the Scribble and Scrap shop.
All the papers have been distressed with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Tattered Rose.
I used my Promarkers to colour the image.
Cocoa, Burnt Sienna, Raw Sienna, Sandstone and Buttercup for the hair.
Vanilla, Almond, blossom for the face and skin.
Cornflower, Powder Blue and blender pen for the clothing.
for the hat: Antique pink, Pink Carnation, Blossom, Pink Mittens.
for the flowers: Antique Pink, Pink Carnation, blossom, Pink Mittens, Cornflower and Powder Blue.
I hand-stitched the bottom layer with white thread.
I made the big white flower myself. You can find the tutorial in here.
I also used Leaves die from Marianne Creatables, Corner die from Sizzix.
Lace, Ribbon, button and little pink roses from local shops.
This is a view of the card open:
I used the same papers for the inside of the card.
I used my scallop punch to create two borders. these are to conceal two magnetic strips. When I made the card, it was so thick that it wouldn't close properly. so I used two magnet strips to make it close!
The tag die is from Joy Crafts. I also used a Scallop Nesting die from Sizzix.
I'm also entering this card into the following challenges (in alphabetical order):
A Creative Romance - Jenny's bingo game (my line is: Pink, Lace, Ribbon)
As you like it - Favourite 3D texture and why (my favourite 3D texture is flowers. I put flowers in almost all my cards, love them! for me they complete the look of the card. I've also started to make my own flowers -as you can see on this card-)

ReplyDeleteA fantastic project card Mirella. I love your flower, the stitching and the wonderfully coloured image x
ReplyDeleteMirella - I really admire your ability to make a project like this and change the dimensions and add flaps as well! I struggle with anything requiring measurements - heavy sigh! Your image choice for your friend is delightful - as is your coloring of the girl and the roses! I love that you made the white flower, and the details in your design add so much interest - the stitching, the buttons, the lace and the inked edges make it a beautifully executed gift.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate that you shared your project & creativity with us!
