A New baby card with a twist!

Hello! First of all I would like to welcome my new followers, who have decided to come aboard my crazy train!!!! Thank you so much and I hope you enjoy my crafty ride!!! (not sure why I'm talking about trains and rides, but hopefully you get what I'm trying to say!!!!)

can you believe is Wednesday already? time flies at the moment.... really busy, trying to get things done (crafty and non-crafty). I'm not complaining though... I love being busy, between my family life, my crafting, writing the blog (it takes me forever to write these few lines... I don't think I'm really easy with words, but I try!).
We are going away for the weekend, which I'm really looking forward to... We are going to Aberdeen to visit friends. I haven't seen them for a few months and we really need a catch up!  I will still have one of my DT cards ready and scheduled to be published on Sunday though... so you won't miss me so much!!! (you are not getting rid of me so easily!!!).

Today I've got a New Baby card for you, but with a twist! It's not blue, it's not pink.... it's green, and yellow, and orange!!!! confusing? yeah! I just wanted to push myself and use my "difficult" colours (meaning, colours I don't usually use and I find difficult to work with...)
After my CAS card on Monday, I really missed my layers and embellishments, so I went full on with them!!!

Another thing I'm really happy about... I  found this company with amazing digis, full of the cutest fairies ever! and I bought my first (but for sure, not last) digi from them... isn't this baby fairy the cutest? it's called "Ashee" from Emerald Faeries Garden Stamps.

The papers I've used are from: K&company, Crate Paper Little Bo Peep, Raspberry Road Designs "Love Lives Here"  and a bit of scrap.

I hand stitched around the papers, in alternate layers and distressed with Tim Holtz distress ink pad in Old Paper and Antique Linen (for the main image).

I coloured the cute image with my Promarkers.

I used: Peach, soft Peach, mustard, buttercup, ivory, vanilla, almond, blossom, lime zest, leaf green, Cool grey 4,3,2 and 1, honeycombe, coral, sandstone and blender pen.

To decorate the card I used:

La la land hearts banner
Sizzix doily border die
butterfly punch
Pearls from Wild Orchid Crafts
Paper Doily
Button, lace and ribbon are from local shops.
The felt flower and leaves have been in my stash for years, but I think I got them from The Works.

I created the sentiment on my computer using "I love what you do!!" font.

I hope you like my New Baby card with a twist!

I'm entering this card into the following challenges (in alphabetical order)

Tweety love!!!! and my CAS guidelines!!!!

Hiya! I hope you are all having a good Monday!!!! Today I overslept... and I didn't go to bed really late last night! I hate when I wake up, late and I have to get up straight away.. I'm hooked to my snooze alarm! It needs to ring every 10 minutes for at least 1 hour for me to get up in a good mood!  not today, somehow it didn't work! Luckily my day changed when I left home to take Alaia to nursery.. It was  such a beautiful morning in Inverness!!! The Sun was out!!! It didn't last.... two hours later, when I went to pick Alaia up... freezing and sooo windy!!! well, I'm still in high spirits, which is good!

Today I've got a CAS card to show you...
I really struggle with CAS cards, so hopefully I've done an OK job with it.

I've looked around as I felt I needed some CAS guidelines for me to follow, as I usually over-embellish my cards, so I summarize these little rules:
keep it simple (not a lot of embellishments, BUT a button, a flower a bit of ribbon is OK!)
leave part of the card blank (it still can be covered with paper, but nothing on top)
have a main focus/focus point on the card (this could be an image, or if not using image, the sentiment or a few embellishements, but clustered on one part of the card...)

for all of you out there who are good at CAS cards, please let me know in the comments if there is anything else I should take into consideration.... Thanks!!!

So, on to my card....

I used a 7x5 pink card base.

I left the top of the card blank and put a piece of patterned paper at the bottom. The paper is from
GCD studios Material Girls collection.

I cie-cut an scallop circle with my Sizzix Scallop circle nesting dies and embossed it with my hearts embossing folder from Tri-boss.

The image and sentiment is called Birdbrain conversation Hearts from "From the Heart". I got it last week and I couldn't wait to use it. It's so much fun!

I coloured the image with my Promarkers.

I used: Mustard, Buttercup, Antique Pink, Blossom, Leaf Green, Poppy, Pink Mittens, and Pink Carnation and Cool Grey 4 for the red shadowing.

I wanted to make the card mainly in
 Pink, Red and White.

I then fussy cut the image and mounted it on top of the embossed circle with foam pads.

I also used:
"A True love story" washi tape from local shop.
button and ribbon are from my stash (local shops)

That's it!
I hope you like my  "Tweety" CAS card...

I'm entering this card into the following challenges (in alphabetical order)

Craft Mojo - Love  (2nd entry)
CAS-ual Fridays #127 - Over the Edge (sentiment banner, ribbon  and image over the edge)
Crafty Boots - Bingo  (Pink, Button, Embossing)
Whoopsi Daisy - Love / Valentines

The Pink Elephant #236

Thank you so much for taking the time to make me a visit! Please leave a comment if you wish with any feedback! and don't forget to follow!

For my DT card, I've chosen the fun Stella, that Bugaboo generously has donated for me to work with.

I went for a layered layout, I can't live without my layers!!!!

The papers I've used are from the Born to Shop Bubbles collection.

I used pastel colours card-stock in purple and green. I also hand-stitched the papers with the same coloured threads.

I coloured Stella with  my Promarkers.

For her hair: Raw Sienna, Sandsotne and Buttercup.

As you may already know, it is ALWAYS ANYTHING GOES!!!  easy peasy! my team mates and I have been very busy creating beautiful cards for your inspiration, so don't forget to also check them out!!!

My DT project for this week is a Love/Valentine's card....
I don't usually just make Valentine's cards, as I like to make cards that also work for anniversaries or just because...

For the card I used two digis that you can find in the Scribble and Scrap shop,
Vintage Steampunk Key and Vintage Steampunk Key hole.
I love the vintage look on this digis....
I glued them to strong card stock and fussy cut them (including the little holes!), as I wanted to put them on foam pad, raised from the background.

I've only used two colours (excluding the white), and I tried to give it a bit of a vintage-look, with the paper distressing and inking (used Tim Holtz distress tool and Tim Holtz distress ink pad in Old Paper).

The papers I've used are from Forever Friends black and gold (the floral paper) and Crate Paper DIY shop (the music sheet).
I hand stitched in dark red/maroon colour around the background paper.

I used a piece of red cardstock cut with Sissix Scallop scallop circle die, to just pop-out behind the music sheet, sentiment and digis.
I also used half a scallop circle die in white, which I embossed with a heart embossing folder from Tri-boss.
I created the sentiment myself (I love sentiments and quotes!!!).
The brackets framing the sentiment are new. I got them as part of an alphabet set I got from American Crafts in TK Maxx.

The red hearts are a die-cut from Sissix Bigz die.
The white ribbon is from Do Crafts.
Red rhinestones in the coner are from local shop.

I really hope you like my black and red LOVE creation!!!!

A moment of madness..... my first mixed media canvas!

Hi! how are you doing! are you having a good crafty week?

This week I'm having  highs and lows.... last night I sat down at my desk, 5 hours passed.... and decided to go to bed as the card I had started to make wasn't coming together as I really wanted....But the previous night was totally different!  I've had in my mind for a while that I wanted to try to work with canvas and mixed media... so two weeks ago I bought a canvas. The other night I decided to create something (I had no plans for it, I just knew I wanted something different, that I've never made before). When I finished, after hours of glueing, painting, varnishing, sticking things, I had made a cute little canvas for Alaia!

I started glueing scrap pieces of paper to the canvas. Lots of PVA glue all over! once dry, I added some Americana Matte varnish to make it waterproof.
And then I went crazy with paint! I started with pink acrylic paint, which I brushed all over the place. Then, with a bit of water and a tissue, I removed most of the paint, but it left a really nice hint of pink all around the papers. then I started with blue and purples around the edges. And more varnish....

I printed this Saturated Canary image called "Honey" and coloured it with my Promarkers.

I used:
for the hair: cocoa, burnt sienna, raw sienna, sandstone and buttercup.
for the skin: vanilla and almond.
for T-shirt: Pink Carnation, Blossom, Pink Mittens and blender pen.
For skirt and boots: cornflower, powder blue and blender pen.
for tights: buttercup, mustard, blossom and pink mittens.
For bunny: raw sienna, sandstone and buttercup.

I made little dots with Versamark pen, and spinkled white embossing powder around the image.

The Sentiments are rub-ons I've had in my stash for a very long time.

On the bottom right corner I used some clay (I don't have any modelling paste or gesso, in my wish list at the moment!) and embossed some butterflies with an embossing folder. I painted on top with acrylic paint.

I also used some wooden hearts and butterflies I had in my stash. I painted them with acrylic paint as they had a red polka dot pattern.

More embellishments used:

3 kinds of washi tape from local shop.
1 lace sticker
buttons and rhinestones from local shop.
lace netting under the flowers from Hobbycraft.
Lace ribbon and flowers from Wild Orchid crafts.
The charms and beads I bought them online a long time ago (don't remember where from, sorry)

The "Dream" ticket and the pin holding it are from Tim Holtz.

More Pictures....

Alaia loved it, that's important! .... it's like a encouraging little 8 x 8 canvas for her to keep, when she grows she will understand the message I guess.....

I really hope you like my first try at Mixed Media!!!!!

I'm entering it into the following challenges:
Hanna and Friends #189 - Hearts

Thank you so much for taking a look. please leave a comment with some feedback. I read every and single message from all you. sorry I can't answer all of them (no enought time a day!!!) but if you have any questions, I'll answer them.
And don't forget to follow! :)

Until next time!
